The idea of having a studio was part of my vision for Another Time Music company when I began it in 1985. I had just moved to Portland, Oregon in August of 1985 after teaching for a year at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater where I taught American Music History. My moved to Portland was to launch a performing career as a pianist and composer. Having a studio in my home at the time seemed like a dream.
The lure of a studio based around a computer using MIDI was hard to resist. After all, who wouldn't want to be able to both create musical tracks and be able to desktop music. In 1984, while working at a piano store in Moscow, Idaho, I had the opportunity to work with an Apple based music system that both did sequencing and music desktop publishing. But it would be several more years before I would acquire my own computer music system.
